Dennis Ayler (22a)

Saturday 25th March
The hotly-tipped jazz-infused BPM-hopping beat aficionado showcases his smokey lo-fi sounds for this London headline debut
Dennis Ayler only dropped his first release in May 2016, via luminary London label 22a, but he’s already been making waves on the international underground. He has since followed this up with a six track EP, “No Comment” on his own DAM imprint with another EP, “Nobody But U” scheduled for February 2017. With a distinct combination of smokey lo-fi house and abstract atmospheres the order of the day, Dennis’ music is as at home in the club as it is played down low in the living room.
Raised in a musical family, Ayler gained early exposure to the piano via his mother who was the organist for her local church. Her real love, however, was for jazz and blues – when she wasn’t teaching the house would be ringing out with music from the likes of Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell. Dennis quickly developed an intimate understanding of Jazz music that gave him a strong foundation in music creation and improvisation. He’s since progressed from playing solo piano to exploring production via drum machines, synths, electric guitars & the like…
Joining on the night are scintillatingly soulful live electronic vocal / electronic combo Equal Echo, with a DJ set from hyper-talented producer and visual artist Hector Plimmer.
As one of the most keenly watched producers of 2017, you’ll want to get quickly in on this.
