“Describing their sound isn’t easy but if a mad scientist blended the dna of Radiohead, The Associates, The Wild Beasts, The Philharmonic Orchestra, Prince, early Human League Nick Cave, and Pink Floyd, flies and flies would probably be the result.”
The Devil Has the Best Tuna
Archspace is very proud to present the brilliantly dark, twisted, bass-heavy, avant-garde pop connoisseurs Flies+Flies, celebrating the launch of their new single ‘Memo’.
Described by Crack magazine as “resoundingly contemporary”, London-based 3 piece flies+flies take elements of lo-fi rock, electronic club music, avant-classical, & pop to produce a sound that veers from belting apocalyptic transmissions to quiet reflective modern hymns.
They released the Milk & Peppers EP on the newly formed Precious Snowflake Records last November. The title track was picked up by BBC Introducing and then Huw Stephens who has been solidly supporting the track since it was first played on the show on Boxing Day.
Typically hard to pigeonhole, their next offering ‘Memo’ combines 808 beats, other-worldy cello, Algerian proto-Rai samples, squelchy synths, a dictaphone and their recurring lyrical theme of being lost at sea. With an early Micachu And the Shapes feel, it combines an experimental edge with wild energy and a pop sensibility to create something catchy and completely irresistible.
“Sounds incredible” – Huw Stephens
“Simply superb” – Laurent Garnier
