One of the most pioneering UK bands of all time perform two classic albums over two intimate nights at Archspace

One of the most forward thinking and ground breaking bands in the UK, Red Snapper’s unique blend of instrumental afro-jazz, future funk, dub and dark hip-hop elements has gained them a formidable live reputation around the world.

In 2014 they released the album ‘Hyena’ on Lo Recordings, inspired by the soundtrack – it was hailed as their best work in 10 years. Inspired by their own soundtrack to 70s Senegalese psychedelic road movie ‘Touki Bouki’ which was restored by Martin Scorsese and the lessons learned from the tour that followed, ‘Hyena’ is a funk-filled acid trip atop a rusted motorcycle, travelling breakneck through the Ferlo desert.

Since forming in 1994 Red Snapper have released Reeled and Skinned, Prince Blimey, Making Bones and Our Aim is To Satisfy Red Snapper on Warp Records, Key on V2 Records and Red Snapper, A Pale Blue Dot and Hyena on Lo Recordings. Over the years they have worked with the likes of The Prodigy, Bjork, Massive Attack, The Fugees, Songhoy Blues and MC DET and they continue to search for new directions to take their music in.

Following their last, warmly welcomed London show Village Underground, this is a rare chance to catch them up close and personal, demonstrating what Red Snapper have always been about; passion fuelled, sweaty gigs, full of energy and adrenalin.
