Elsa Hewitt & Frameworks

Birthdays

Elsa Hewitt & Frameworks are coming to Birthdays for a huge co-headliner, packed with intricate, nuanced and down-tempo electronica. Witness as these rising producers deliver a masterclass in sampling, soundscapes and evocative textures.

Elsa Hewitt is an exciting new electronic artist from East Sussex who uses a mixture of organic and found sounds, electronics, instruments, loop pedals, samplers, songwriting and poetry to create her art. As such, Elsa’s music draws direct inspiration from avant-garde, lo-fi and ambient electronica whilst remaining refreshingly catchy, in much a similar way to down-temp pioneer James Blake.

After self-releasing a trilogy of albums on tape via her own ‘ERH Records’, Elsa has been given the nod by numerous influential tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft (BBC 6 Music), Andrew Jervis (Bandcamp), Jay Scarlett and Stamp The Wax to name a few. Upon first listen to her latest LP “Quilt Jams”, it becomes abundantly clear why Elsa is widely considered to be a rising star within the ambient electronica scene and why she is undoubtedly one to watch over the next few years.

Co-headlining on this very special evening will be Frameworks, a UK producer best known for producing instrumental hip hop and down-tempo, eclectic electronica. Rich, warm compositions bursting with blossoming strings, pulsing bass, and haunting vocals fill his catalogue. Having previously worked with JP Cooper and Ninja Tune’s Jono McCleery, Matthew James Brewer, a.k.a Frameworks, has built a reputation both in the UK and the US as one of the most enticing producers emerging in the wake of artists such as Bonobo.

Fresh off the festival circuit with slots at Coachella, and Electric Forest to name but a few, Brewer has built a full live show using real instruments to recreate his eclectic productions. As a result, Frameworks bring a depth and focus that demands to be experienced.
